House of Resilience V2

Reporting on Outcomes
In 2006 the Continuum Care and Education with its partner Clinical Psychology Associates, pioneered
the development of an outcomes measurement model the House of Resilience. This model which is still
the only one of its type within the care sector took as its foundation the Every Child Matters agenda and
added priority ‘pillars’ which identified the area of most need and provided a statistically valid measurement
tool to assess progress and identify risks.

Measuring the progress of young people in care has never been more important, nor so complex.

V1 of the House of Resilience produced over 2000 reports and was the first model in the sector which
was able to identify key needs, plans to meet these needs and progress made. V2 builds on this platform and
introduces additional features including a separate education section and more information regarding staying safe.

The format is easier to read and complete and for the first time authority practitioners will have direct electronic
access to all their young people placed in our care.

Reports are produced at the end of a 28 day assessment period and then every two months. Each report is
produced by the house management team, reviewed by our in house clinical specialist and subject to an
independent overview by a registered psychologist.

Reports are created and stored on an internet based system (no need for software install) which is
available via a secure connection instantly for social workers, placement managers and commissioners.

This system reinforces our commitment to provide both the best care in the sector with the best methodology and
feedback systems to provide outstanding outcomes and value for money.

What makes this a leading residential outcomes model in the sector?

– Involvement from young person
– Compilation of trends
– Easier to input – easier to understand
– Direct Electronic Access
– Independant Clinical Assesment of each report

‘The outcome monitoring reports are specific and measured in terms of continuing care
for the young person’ – February 2010, Social Worker, Nottinghamshire County Council

‘The House of Resilience Report is excellent’
July 2009, Social Worker, Cambridgeshire County Council

‘I find these reports comprehensive and very beneficial in understanding M’s
progress and outstanding needs under the five Every Child Matters outcomes’
Dec 2009, Social worker, Manchester City Council
